Q.What are the main times of day when care is needed?

A. Early morning/breakfast ; Lunchtime ; Late afternoon/tea-time ; Bed time. Care activities are usually required between 7am and 10pm.

Q. Does it involve weekends and bank holidays?

A. Yes.

Q. What kind of tasks are carers expected to do?

A. Supporting people in their day to day living such as getting up and going to bed, preparing drinks and basic meals, personal hygiene and using the toilet, helping with medication needs.

Q. Where will I be working?

A. Our main areas are Leek and surrounding villages, Biddulph with Brown Lees and Brown Edge, Newcastle with Kidsgrove. You be offered work in one of these areas.

Q. Will I get paid for mileage?

A. No.

Q. Will I get paid for travel time?

A. No, but your work will be based in as small an area as possible to keep your costs down.

Q. Do I need to have passed my driving test?

A. Yes, and have the use of a car.

Q. I have no experience in care, can I still work for you?

A. Yes, because if you are successful at interview you will receive training and support before taking on responsibilities as a carer.

Q. Is there a uniform?

A. You will be provided with a uniform along with protective equipment such as gloves and aprons etc.

Q. Will I get paid for holidays ?

A. You will be told when you start how much paid holiday you are entitled to, which will be dependant on the hours you work.

Q. Can I work school hours?

A. Our Care Manager would need to make such a decision based on the organisations needs. You would be expected to be available to work weekends.

Q. Will I receive training?

A.  Yes, both when you start and during your employment.
